Resurrection Garden
St. John’s Resurrection Garden
Guidelines for Use and Care
Spring 2022
The Resurrection Garden of St. John’s Episcopal Church in New City, New York is dedicated to the honor and glory of God.
The following guidelines are intended to maintain the use of this Garden for years to come, in continuity with its original design to be a natural sanctuary where we lay to rest beloved members of the St. John’s Church community. We ask that only natural markers (such as fresh flowers) are placed at graves. The garden will be cleaned of all additions monthly, or as needed.
We welcome current and previous members of St. John’s to request burial in the Resurrection Garden, in consultation with and application to St. John’s priest. Members in Good Standing provide current and ongoing support to St. John’s and therefore have no need to provide further compensation for burial in the Garden.
Friends of St. John’s who are not providing ongoing financial support of the church and its mission may apply for burial in the Garden. At the discretion of and in consultation with St. John’s priest, those who are invited for burial are asked for a donation of $2000.
Only St. John’s clergy and currently licensed Worship Leaders may perform burial services in the Resurrection Garden. Burial in the Garden includes all services of the priest as well as an engraved name plate mounted on the plaque in the narthex.
Additional donations to the ongoing care of the Resurrection Garden are gratefully received and may be made payable to St. John’s Episcopal Church, noting “Resurrection Garden Memorial”.
